VERVE, Artistic and Literary Journal, No. 5-6 (double issue) - Lot 292
VERVE, Artistic and Literary Journal, No. 5-6 (double issue)
Paris, Éditions Verve (E. Tériade), 1940.
Large folio, publisher’s full ivory cloth binding, illustrated cover preserved.
An important double issue of the famous journal Verve, founded and edited by Tériade, one of the most prestigious art publications of the 20th century. This issue brings together numerous texts by writers, critics, and artists, lavishly illustrated with color and black-and-white reproductions of paintings, sculptures, illuminations, and major works held in French collections.
The color plates, printed with exceptional care, attest to Verve’s editorial ambition; the magazine remains an essential reference in modern art publishing to this day.
This copy is preserved in the publisher’s original ivory-colored cloth binding with the original illustrated covers.
The binding is in good condition. The cloth is uniformly soiled and pitted. A few central quires are loose. The interior remains clean and complete.
