DAUDET (Alphonse), Illustrated Complete Works. Ne Varietur E - Lot 132
DAUDET (Alphonse), Illustrated Complete Works. Ne Varietur Edition. Paris, Librairie de France, 1929–1931. Complete set in 20 large 8vo paperback volumes, with printed covers. A major illustrated edition of the complete works of Alphonse Daudet, published in the famous “Ne Varietur” collection, enriched with a remarkable collection of illustrations comprising 260 black-and-white inserts and 96 color inserts based on works by Marcel Roche, Adrien Bagarry, André Villeboeuf, Edy Legrand, F. Quelvée, Dignimont, Piot, Jeanne Rosay, and various artists from the interwar period. This edition represents one of the most ambitious publishing projects dedicated to Daudet in the 20th century, offering a comprehensive overview of his novels, plays, autobiographical works, and Provençal writings. The color illustrations—often missing or incomplete in the sets found today—enhance the collection’s appeal to bibliophiles. Condition: Uniform set. Covers preserved; spines occasionally sun-faded or slightly faded. Some wear and creases from use on the headbands and clamps. Pages generally fresh, with rare scattered foxing. The quires appear complete.
