CUREL (François de), *L'Ivresse du Sage*. - Lot 131
CUREL (François de), *L'Ivresse du Sage*. A comedy in three acts. Illustrations by Paul-Émile Colin. Paris, Georges Crès et Cie, 1921. In-12, paperback, illustrated cover with a raised design. First edition of this comedy by François de Curel, a member of the Académie française and one of the leading figures of the “theater of ideas” during the Belle Époque. The volume is adorned with a frontispiece and several decorative compositions drawn and engraved by Paul-Émile Colin, whose elegant Art Deco-inspired vignettes accompany the various acts of the play. A fine copy preserved in its original binding, complete with its filled covers. The meticulous typography and engraved illustrations attest to the refinement of the Théâtre d’Art productions published by Georges Crès in the early 1920s. The cover is in good condition despite slight marginal wear. The interior is fresh, complete, and free of notable foxing.
