GALEZOWSKI (Xavier). Born in Lipowice (Poland) in 1832, died - Lot 61
GALEZOWSKI (Xavier). Born in Lipowice (Poland) in 1832, died in 1907. Polish oculist, naturalized French. Founder of a major Paris clinic, he was one of the most renowned European ophthalmologists of his time. Son-in-law of the famous singer Gilbert Duprez. L.A.S. "Dr. Galezowski" to "Monsieur Escudier". Paris, April 21, evening. 1 p. in-8. Embossed letterhead with his initials "X.G.". Brief but interesting letter of an administrative nature in which the famous oculist claims a "patient coupon" not yet received. Galezowski writes: "I have not yet received the sick coupon n°9 in exchange for the one I gave you yesterday of n°9." and insists that the document be delivered promptly: "Please give orders for it to be delivered to me before tomorrow evening." This short correspondence bears witness to the administrative workings of Parisian medicine at the end of the 19th century, and to the day-to-day management of consultations and patient admissions by one of the most famous ophthalmologists of his day. A sober and elegant document, on beautiful embossed paper with the practitioner's initials, very well preserved.
