GAGNEUR, Wladimir Wladimir Gagneur L.A.S. "W. Gagneur" addressed to "Mon cher Édouard". S.d. [ca. 1870-1880]. 1 page in-8. Interesting letter evoking a political move and the sending of a manifesto to be signed. After receiving "an abscessed knee sprain", Gagneur indicates that he will have to remain immobilized for some time: "On arrival, a sprained abscess in my knee will still cost me complete immobility for the time being...". Nevertheless, he asks his correspondent to take further steps in his absence, and to send a manifesto which he says he is ready to sign: "Please send me this manifesto, which I will probably sign. I will also take it to Grévy...". A fine letter, testifying to the political and republican networks gravitating around Jules Grévy, with explicit mention of the latter. The tone remains friendly and committed, typical of Gagneur's militant correspondence. An interesting piece for the political history of the nascent Third Republic and Jura republican circles. Very good condition.
