BOYER (Régis) - Lot 10
BOYER (Régis) Régis Boyer Born in Reims in 1932, died in 2017. French academic, agrégé de lettres, recognized specialist in Scandinavian languages and civilizations. Professor at the University of Paris-Sorbonne, member of the Lund and Uppsala Academies of Sciences and Letters, he was one of the main introducers of Nordic culture in France through his translations of Icelandic sagas and his work on the Vikings. L.A.S. "Régis Boyer" addressed to a friend. La Varenne, January 25, 1990. 1 page in-4 autograph in brown ink. Interesting literary and friendly letter in which Régis Boyer talks about a radio program devoted to the Swedish writer Stig Dagerman and the work of Knut Hamsun. In a warm and familiar tone, Boyer thanks his correspondent for sending him a book, and discusses a number of translation and publishing issues. He also mentions the difficulty of "getting Calmann-Lévy to send you the book", while expressing his admiration for certain contemporary Scandinavian works. The letter testifies to the intense intellectual activity of the great French specialist in Nordic literature, as well as to his literary and publishing network. The text is enriched with personal assessments of Scandinavian authors and the reception of their works in France. Enclosed: printed biographical note by Régis Boyer. Interesting set on the reception of Scandinavian literature in France at the end of the 20th century.
