Sixth album in the great historical saga Alix, originally published in 1965. The plot opens in Gaul, where a mysterious and fearsome sword, once belonging to the legendary Gallic chief Brennus, becomes the instrument of a terrible plot to stir up the tribes against Julius Caesar. Alix and Enak find themselves entrusted with a mission of trust of the utmost importance, to prevent the Roman legions from being trapped. Jacques Martin delivers a major geopolitical story in the series, characterized by constant tension and splendid winter landscapes. The first plate offers a particularly solemn illustration, featuring the profile of the two heroes in front of a Roman army marching across the snowy plains. Second board: column-type catalog with simplified white box listing 7 titles, ending with Le Dieu sauvage (published in 1970). This listing indicates a print run in the very early 70s by the publisher Casterman. Note the old handwriting in ink ("Christophe Collection") at the top left of the box, and small pencil ticks in front of most titles. Copy in poor condition. The volume shows significant signs of deterioration due to age and handling. The boards are very tired, showing pronounced wear and visible surface soiling. Edges and corners are heavily dulled, trimmed and crushed. The original red cloth spine is damaged, with rubbed and torn headpieces. The interior remains complete but worn, with obvious signs of use and age. An album proposed as a reading copy. One of the fundamental pillars of the series.
