SPIROU - Journal album, n°88 - Lot 117
SPIROU - Journal album, n°88 SPIROU JOURNAL COLLECTION (ÉDITIONS DUPUIS) 88th Album Period: Contains issues 1264 (July 5, 1962) to 1289 (December 27, 1962). Year of publication: Early 1963. A magnificent and precious collective large in-4 hardback volume, with its original red cloth spine and richly illustrated front cover. This historic collection covers the entire second half of 1962, an absolutely mythical period corresponding to the newspaper's golden age. It features plates by legends of the French-Belgian comic strip, including the special Christmas 1962 issue. The cover illustration, signed by André Franquin, masterfully features Gaston Lagaffe. The humorous scene shows Gaston struggling with his very first inventions, or causing his famous disasters at the Dupuis editorial office. The exclusive presence of the famous goofball on the front cover makes this collector's volume doubly interesting, as much for purists of the Spirou collections of the '60s as for custodians of Franquin's work.
