SPIROU - Journal album, n°59
Dupuis, October 1956. Large in-4 hardback, gray cloth spine, first cover illustrated in color.
A rare and sought-after early issue of Journal Spirou, corresponding to number 59 of the famous series of bound albums published by Dupuis.
This volume contains issues no. 964 to 976, covering the period from October 4 to December 27, 1956, at the heart of the newspaper's golden age.
It is a remarkable testimony to the great period of the Marcinelle school, bringing together the major names in the Dupuis catalog, including Franquin, Morris, Peyo, Jijé, Will and Paape.
The cover is particularly spectacular, featuring a jungle scene with the Marsupilami and a sleeping panther in the foreground, a composition highly emblematic of Franquin's style.
This issue is particularly appreciated by collectors for its iconic Marsupilami cover, one of the most decorative in the series of vintage collections.
