Asterix the Gaul's second adventure, this album takes our heroes to Lutetia to replace the broken golden sickle of the druid Panoramix. The story is like a real police investigation in the underworld of the great Gallo-Roman city, with a multitude of winks at Parisian life. Uderzo's brushwork, though still in an evolutionary phase, is already establishing the visual codes of the series. This album is crucial, as it deepens the relationship between Asterix and Obelix, and defines the sociological and anachronistic humor that would make the Goscinny-Uderzo duo famous.
