Asterix - Caesar's Gift. - Lot 9
Asterix - Caesar's Gift. GOSCINNY - UDERZO Asterix - Caesar's Gift. Dargaud, 1992. In-4 hardback, plates illustrated in color. 1992 reprint of this twenty-first album in the adventures of Asterix the Gaul. In this opus, a freed legionnaire is mockingly given the title to the village of the "Fools" by Caesar. This poisoned "gift" leads to the arrival of a family of foreigners in the village, provoking electoral rivalries and a memorable zizanie orchestrated by the genius of Goscinny. Uderzo's drawing style is at its best here, with richly detailed plates and delightful caricatures. The album humorously explores the themes of local politics, ambition and prejudice, while retaining the spirit of open camaraderie that characterizes the series. Justification page: © DARGAUD EDITEUR 1974. Legal deposit: June 1992. ISBN : 2-205-00833-1. Printed and bound by Partenaires. Printed in France. Second plate: Obelix carrying a menhir on which appears the list of "Déjà parus" titles, stopping at Astérix chez les Belges. Copy in good condition. Solidly bound boards. Clean boards with colors still fresh, despite some very slight wear to corners. Perfectly sound interior, with no erasures or tears, and very white paper. A quality copy of this must-have classic from the Dargaud catalog. A landmark French-Belgian comics title, a must-have for every library.
