GRIMOD DE LA REYNIERE (Alexandre Balthazar). Born in Paris. 1758-1838. Lawyer, journalist and writer. Along with Brillat Savarin, he is considered one of the founders of modern Western gastronomy. B.A.S. from his initials, written in the 3rd person, to playwright Edouard Mazères. Paris, June 24, 1827. & Page in-12. Charming bill of compliments following the premiere of Mazères and Picard's play Les Trois Quartiers, which was a Parisian event. Grimod wished to see M. Mazères in order to ...thank him for the unspeakable pleasure he was kind enough (...) to give him on the 8th of this month by giving him the means to hear and applaud one of the best and most piquant comedies of manners the present age can boast of. Deprived of the pleasure of meeting the amiable (...) author of so many works at once comic, sensitive and moral, he asks him to accept with the homage of his gratitude, that of his most distinguished consideration...Les trois quartiers, a comedy in three acts and prose by Louis-Benoît Picard and Edouard Mazères, was first performed at the Théâtre Français on May 31, 1827.
