He adds: ...I'd like to thank you very much for your eagerness to obtain from Henri Lavedan what I asked of you... yesterday. I'm very happy to have the opportunity to play this very fine role of "l'Abbé Daniel"... Albert LAMBERT was a member of the Comédie-Française from 1891 to 1935. Henri LAVEDAN (1859-1940) was a French journalist and playwright. He was elected to the Académie française in 1898- MOUNET-SULLY (Jean-Sully Mounet, dit). 1841-1916. L.A.S. Monval" to Monsieur Juncker. Paris, January 11, 1888. 2 pp. 1/2 in-8. Printed letterhead of the Comédie-Française: the letter from the actress Mlle Bourgoin in his possession is ...certainly prior to 1822 and probably even to 1817, as the role of Rosalie was, between these two dates, played by Mlle Devin. The addressee is certainly Alexandre Pieyre, author of LEcole des Pères, a comedy in 5 acts, in verse, first performed at the Comédie Française on June 1, 1787 and long in the repertoire, from which it has disappeared since the Restoration (...). As for Mlle Volnais (...), she was a sociétaire in 1802, and married a Mr. Roustan...Georges MONVAL was archivist at the Comédie-Française for over twenty years, and in 1879 founded a review devoted to MOLIÈRE. In 1891, he discovered an original autograph manuscript of Denis DIDEROT's Le Neveu de Rameau.
