BOSCH — Illustrated Monograph - Lot 41
BOSCH — Illustrated Monograph A substantial in-4 volume, bound in the publisher’s black cloth, with “BOSCH” in large gold letters on the spine. A comprehensive monograph devoted to Hieronymus Bosch (c. 1450–1516) and his pictorial world. The book places his paintings within their religious, literary, and iconographic context of the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance, drawing numerous parallels with the popular and devotional imagery of his time. Extensive color illustrations, including numerous full-page reproductions and close-up details that allow for the study of the fantastical scenes, devilry, and human and animal figures characteristic of Bosch. Notably included are details from his large compositions and triptychs. Black cloth binding with some scuffs, small stains, and signs of wear; interior appears to be in good condition.
