ZOLA (Émile). Masterpieces. Thérèse Raquin - The Fault of Fa - Lot 300
ZOLA (Émile). Masterpieces. Thérèse Raquin - The Fault of Father Mouret - The Drunkard - Nana. Paris, Fasquelle - NRF - Gallimard, 1957. Large in-4 volume (approx. 23 × 18.5 cm), 890 pp., a collective edition illustrated with 32 watercolors reproduced in color by Gus Bofa, P.-E. Clairin, André Dignimont, and Emilio Grau Sala. Bibliographic references and comparable copies confirm this composition. Very fine polychrome publisher’s cardboard binding, with a radiant abstract design in cream, blue, and wine-red extending across the covers and spine; title centered on the front cover and spine. Original illustrated blue slipcase with red and cream motifs, in good condition. The photographed proof states: 10,250 copies, including 10,000 numbered from 1 to 10,000 and 250 non-commercial copies. Copy: No. 9725. Printed on March 13, 1957. Printed on Plumex vellum, as confirmed by the bibliographed copies. The binding is in generally good condition, with colors still fresh and the decoration very presentable. However, there is some rubbing and minor losses at the caps, jaws, and corners, particularly visible at the top and bottom of the spine. The original slipcase is quite worn: significant scuffing along the edges, leather-like paper, and small tears at the corners. Nevertheless, it is valuable that it has been preserved. The interior appears clean and fresh, with no significant visible foxing.
