ORIGINAL COLLECTIVE EDITION The third volume of the Complete Works of Benjamin Péret, published by the Association of Friends of Benjamin Péret. It primarily brings together the author’s prose texts, stories, and tales, accompanied by notes and variants. The volume opens with “Benjamin Péret” by Octavio Paz, a particularly interesting account by the Mexican poet on one of the most distinctive figures of Surrealism. Péret and Paz had met in Mexico in the 1940s; their intellectual affinity lends this introductory essay special significance. The collection notably includes *At 125 Boulevard Saint-Germain*, *The Misfortunes of a Dollar*, *Napoleon’s Flower*, *The Land of Cockaigne*, *Death to Cows and on the Field of Honor*, *The Tale Dedicated to Blue and White*, *The Negro and the Flaming Saucer*, and *On the Road to Fortune*. Benjamin Péret (1899–1959), a companion of André Breton and one of the founding members of the Surrealist movement, remains one of its most radical figures. His work, long scattered across numerous publications that have since become rare, was gradually compiled by the Association des amis de Benjamin Péret into this important collected edition. A fine copy, very fresh inside, preserved in its characteristic red publisher’s cover. A few very slight signs of handling on the cover, nothing serious.
