LE PESTEUR (Jacques) - LÉVY-STRINGER (Jacques) - FARNAULT (D - Lot 160
LE PESTEUR (Jacques) - LÉVY-STRINGER (Jacques) - FARNAULT (Didier). Fresques de salles de garde, preceded by Vies et morts des internes en médecine by Jacques Le Pesteur. Paris, Éditions Ramsay, 1980. Large 4to, 163 pp., publisher’s red cardboard binding, white title on the spine and front cover, in a matching red slipcase. First edition, printing completed on October 27, 1980, by Firmin-Didot. A comprehensive study devoted to the history and folklore of the on-call rooms for medical interns in Parisian hospitals. The first part, “Lives and Deaths of Medical Interns,” is followed by an extensive section devoted to the famous frescoes in the on-call rooms, richly illustrated with black-and-white and color photographic reproductions by Jacques Le Pesteur, Jacques Lévy-Stringer, and Didier Farnault. The book documents, in particular, the on-call rooms at La Charité, Hôtel-Dieu, Necker, Cochin, Saint-Louis, La Pitié, La Salpêtrière, Tenon, Laënnec, Bichat, and Garches. A fine copy preserved in its original slipcase. Some scuffing and minor signs of wear on the slipcase, particularly at the corners; the board cover and interior are in good condition.
