GÉRALDY (Paul).. *La Guerre, Madame*… Paris and Zurich, Geor - Lot 113
GÉRALDY (Paul).. *La Guerre, Madame*… Paris and Zurich, Georges Crès & Cie, “Bellum” series, 1917. In-16, paperback, beige cover printed in black and red, printed spine, black frontispiece by Jean Lefort. 31st edition, published one year after the original 1916 edition. Written during World War I, *La Guerre, Madame…* is one of Paul Géraldy’s works inspired by the times. In it, the author evokes—in the familiar and sensitive tone that made him famous—the striking contrast between life at the front and life on the home front. Through conversations, stories from soldiers, and the upended routines of Parisian society, Géraldy vividly captures the unique atmosphere of the capital at war. The book enjoyed considerable and immediate success, as evidenced by this thirty-first edition, published as early as 1917. The edition features a frontispiece illustration by Jean Lefort, an artist and painter particularly known for his military scenes and depictions of the Great War. This copy retains its original binding and has full margins. The cover is slightly discolored and soiled, with a few marks and scuffs; there is minor wear on the headband and corners. The interior is fresh overall.
