DESROCHES NOBLECOURT (Christiane), ed. — Ramses the Great. - Lot 92
DESROCHES NOBLECOURT (Christiane), ed. — Ramses the Great. Paris, Association française d'action artistique, 1976. Large in-4 volume, LXXII-325 pp., very richly illustrated in black and white and color, with numerous full-page reproductions. Publisher’s illustrated hardcover binding; the front cover features a detail from the sarcophagus of Ramses II. A major catalog of the exhibition “Ramses the Great” held at the Galeries nationales du Grand Palais in Paris, under the direction of Egyptologist Christiane Desroches Noblecourt. The BnF entry confirms the collation of LXXII-325 pages, the black-and-white and color illustrations, and the 25 cm format. A particularly well-documented catalog devoted to the reign of Ramses II: statuary, monuments, foundation deposits, furnishings, ritual objects, architecture, and major complexes such as Abu Simbel. The scholarly entries are accompanied by extensive photographic documentation. The book was sold for 50 francs upon its publication. A good copy. The cloth binding is intact; the interior is clean and fresh. There are a few marks and some normal wear on the covers, with minor wear on the headbands and corners.
