The Golden Carabe - Tintin - Lot 189
The Golden Carabe - Tintin HERGÉ (Georges Remi) The Golden Ground Beetle. Facsimile of a draft illustration in a wooden frame. This work is a faithful reproduction of an original draft by Hergé intended for a series of educational postcards (chromos). It depicts Tintin, magnifying glass in hand, observing an insect on the ground while Snowy watches intently. The style is characteristic of the “Ligne Claire” technique, with the precision of line and immediate clarity that define the genius of the creator of The Adventures of Tintin. The original illustration, created around 1943, reflects Hergé’s meticulous documentary research; he enjoyed placing his characters in rigorous educational or scientific contexts. Technical details (on the back): The Golden Ground Beetle Design for a series of educational postcards (or, later, chromolithographs). India ink, watercolor, and graphite on drawing paper. Original size: 90 x 138 mm. Hergé Studios Collection. Reference number: 0392. Physical description: Framed facsimile under glass, with a mat. Light-colored wooden frame; corners protected by cardboard corner pieces. The piece is preserved under its original protective plastic film. The signature “Hergé” is printed below the image along with a descriptive note about the project. A beautiful decorative piece for any Tintin fan or lover of Hergé’s work.
