JACQUES MARTIN - Alix - The Greek Child - Lot 288
JACQUES MARTIN - Alix - The Greek Child JACQUES MARTIN Alix - L'Enfant grec. Casterman, 1980. In-4 hardback, covers illustrated in color. Fifteenth album in the famous historical Alix series, created by Jacques Martin. Set in Greece, at the foot of the Acropolis in Athens, Alix and Enak find themselves embroiled in a murky affair of kidnapping and political manipulation. A clandestine faction is trying to use a young boy to rekindle ancestral tensions in the region and overthrow the established order. Jacques Martin once again excels in the rigor of his reconstructions, offering sumptuous architectural perspectives of Athens in the 1st century BC. The dramatic tension, palpable right from the cover, is admirably conveyed by the author's precise line and warm, twilight-colored atmospheres. Justification page : © Casterman 1980. Translation and reproduction rights reserved for all countries. ISBN : 2-203-31215-7. Second board: catalog of "Déjà parus" titles, stopping with the present volume (L'Enfant grec) for the Alix series, and with the title Opération Thor for the Lefranc series. Copy in good condition. Solid original boards. First cover still very fresh with bright colors, depicting Alix in the midst of an angry Athenian crowd. Corners and covers very slightly dulled. Inside perfectly clean, sound and white, with no erasures or tears. A fine copy of this Brussels School classic. One of the most intense and political stories in Alix's Hellenic saga.
